electronica or edm, please 

I take exception to the word “Electronica” , it’s a fabricated word invented in the late 80s to try to label a huge amount of electronic musical styles under one homogenizing umbrella. It’s a corporate term, a marketing term, and should not be used as a result. EDM is completely fine, b/c that’s what it is.

And just so you all know… “Techno” used to be the umbrella term for all EDM from Chicago House to German Industrial and was used because throughout the 70s, 80s, and early 90s EDM was the new thing… Technological Music… hence it was often called “Techno”.

Nowadays “Techno” is used to describe a sub-genre of EDM, so the meaning has changed a little… but for the love of god don’t hate on someone because they use the term Techno to describe the scene — it has a long and proud history. Denounce the use of “Electronica” because it was invented by suits trying to bank on something it didn’t understand after DECADES of ignoring and disregarding EDM. /rant
